My name is Jeanne (/ʒʌn/) Gallée (/gæˈleɪ/).

I am a researcher at the Center for Psychometric Analyses of Aging and Neurodegeneration at the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington, REC Trainee at the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, and licensed speech-language pathologist practicing in the greater Seattle area.  I am also an adjunct instructor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions (MGH IHP) and affiliate faculty at Emerson College in their respective departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders. In 2021, I completed my Ph.D. at Harvard University in the Program of Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology (SHBT). Throughout my studies, I pursued concurrent clinical training in speech-language pathology at the MGH IHP. Following my clinical fellowship year, I pursued my research as a postdoctoral scholar with Dr. Chantel Prat at the Cognition & Cortical Dynamics Laboratory in the Department of Psychology/I-LABS.

Afflicted with a smörgåsbord of interests, my primary research interest is language and the ways by which we are able to communicate our thoughts, concerns, and desires. Currently, my investigations of language are informed through the lens of aphasia - an acquired neurogenic disorder that can impair the production (speaking, writing) and/or processing (listening, reading) of language. I am driven to create representative, inclusive, and generalizable characterizations and treatment models for language.

In the spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration, I've had the privilege of training with speech-language pathologists (see here and here), cognitive neuroscientists (see here and here), and neurologists (see here) in the greater Boston area over the past few years. Currently, I am involved in multiple national and international efforts to enhance the diagnostic and therapeutic care provided to people with primary progressive aphasia (PPA). The unparalleled opportunity to work directly with patients, whether through research or in clinic, has allowed me to gain critical insights on the translation from lab to clinic and vice versa. I am also a proud Wellesley College ('16) alumna - go blue!
